City of Manteca Publishes Navigation Center FAQ

One of the hottest topics surrounding the 2022 Mayoral race is the Homeless Navigation Center. The State has issued the City a $16M grant to build it, but there's a lot of misconceptions buzzing around social media about what it means. Some of the discussion has been reasonable while other discussions have been obvious attempts to outrage the public in effort to sway votes to the candidate who "strongly opposes" the Navigation Center.

"Will it bring more homeless from other Cities, is it a Regional Center?"

"Will it allow MPD to enforce no camping ordinances and 'clean up our streets'?"

"How much will the taxpayers be paying for it?"

"Can we vote for building the center or not, or where to locate it?"

"Will it bring more crime?"

"Will the homeless be allowed to shoot up their drugs at the Navigation Center?"

What is a Navigation Center

The answers to all the misconceptions buzzing around social media are addressed in the Navigation Center FAQs published by the City of Manteca, accessible below.

For more information and the source of the FAQ, visit the City's page.

See the City's proposed drawing below (subject to change). The Navigation Center is in blue, accessible only from Carnegie Ct. There's a large 7 foot wall labeled as number 9 in the image separating the industrial zone from the residential zone. There's also 3 residential apartment buildings (two affordable housing and one supportive housing) in pink. Other items are also identified in the legend.
