4th Quarter, Ball on the 23 Yard Line, 1st Down

Writer's picture: Unified People's Voice of MantecaUnified People's Voice of Manteca

With 23 days until the election, let's tally the score so far;

Scoreboard

In chronological order, here's the series of events so far:

After the coin toss, Larson entered the arena of the Mayoral race with a fabricated story on Facebook, blasting Manteca's first responders and attacking Manteca's current City Council staff.

The story, while it had some bases in truth, was deemed 90% manufactured. 1 point penalty, Larson.

Larson and Aquila then went on the offense, making carefully worded statements attacking Gary Singh for "having a criminal conviction, while she had none". While it's true she's never been convicted, she has indeed been arrested of felony charges and served some serious jail time. Larson then started blocking people and deleting comments, censoring her campaign Facebook page when confronted with questions about her record. Gary on the other hand, has never shied away from a conversation explaining his past situation.

Gary chose not to participate in the mud slinging. 1 point Singh.

After failure to convert the 4th down, the ball was punted and the social media swing was now in a full uproar. It was then discovered through public record that Larson chose not to sign the California Code of Fair Campaign Practices.

Both Ben and Gary had signed the CCFCP. 1 point Cantu, 1 point Singh.

Larson's defense took the field. When the Manteca Police Officers Association (MPOA) and the Manteca Firefighters Local 1874 endorsed Gary Singh for Mayor, Frank Aquila, a retired juvenile detention center guard from Contra Costa County made up the organization The "Retired Peace Officers Association in Manteca" (RPOA). The RPOA was not an official 501c organization and was formed solely for the purpose of endorsing Larson for Mayor.

This was a blatant attempt to fool the public through misleading 4 letter acronyms. 1 point penalty, Larson.

The beginning of the second quarter, Larson and team came out of the gate strong, with a well prepared carefully crafted story, utilizing very tricky wording and phrases such as "an anonymous letter" and "appears a conflict of interest", to attack Gary Singh once again. This was another obvious attempt, not at actually being concerned about the issue presented, but at fooling the public with tricky wording.

Turns out the general public is not as easily fooled as the Larson campaign would like to believe. Insulting... 1 point penalty, Larson.

After the turnover, Ben and Gary promptly filed their campaign financial disclosures form 460, as all funds raised for and used by campaigning for government positions are to be public record. Larson has yet to file her form, now 10 days late, this form is mandatory. What financial information is she hiding?

Both Ben and Gary have filed their form 460. 1 point Cantu, 1 point Singh.

The Larson offense again took their hail-mary shot right before halftime, teasing all week that a "Bombshell" would be dropped in the paper yesterday, Saturday Oct 15th, attacking Gary Singh once again (man they must view him as a yuuuge threat). That "bombshell" play was again carefully crafted with tricky wording in a repeat play of their last failed conversion. This time, the play was thrown out by the refs and stopped before the ball was even snapped, as it contained an extremely disgusting attempt at putting in jeopardy the safety of Singh's family, including minor children. The ref's instead ran a story of facts, completely debunking the trickery of the Larson offense with tons of factual evidence which was also summed up with a very simple yet effective TLDR, "The 2012 widening decision was prior the 2019 land purchase".

Kudo's to the ref's for making the right play. 2 point penalty, Larson.

At Halftime, the score is:

Team

Score

Ben Cantu

2

Gary Singh

3

Lei Ann Larson

- 5

Other Notable Plays:

  1. Mrs. Larson filed a notice of intent to petition to put the Navigation Center vote on the Nov 8th ballot. This notice was rejected twice for being filled out incorrectly. Although she was given the opportunity, she never filed again properly. Instead she withdrew and then blasted the City for wasting taxpayer money on the matter, when in reality it was indeed Larson herself wasting taxpayer money.

  2. Larson has been accepting anonymous donations, which are not reportable under $99, but must be kept track of incase multiple donations from the same anonymous source end up totaling over $99. She has accepted both anonymous donations over $99 and multiple anonymous donations under $99. This may be why she hasn't filed her campaign financial disclosures form 460. She's in direct violation.

  3. The Larson campaign engages in personal attacks on social media towards anyone with an opposing view, or just for simply asking questions for more details or sources of their statements.

  4. The Larson campaign put out a video where she claims to be answering the call from Ben Cantu about serving a full term. The video however focuses more on "playing the victim", defending her well documented history and statements made in this blog. In fact, she doesn't present any factual based evidence or public record to dispute these statements, and she doesn't get around to addressing Ben Cantu's call until the video is 90% over.

  5. Mrs. Larson has never held any office of government representative nor has she had any experience in being a representative or servant of the people.

  6. Mrs. Larson has been banned from Nextdoor and a certain Facebook 👀 Neighborhood Watch group for bullying and blocking members of the community. This coming from the woman claiming to be "the voice of the people". Pretty hypocritical.

  7. The few supporters Larson has left have also been caught screaming vulgarities in traffic, using demeaning degrading terms towards women, spewing hate propaganda towards others for their religious beliefs on social media, and blocking or muting anyone with any amount of common sense asking simple yet logical questions... The fact these are the type of people the Larson campaign attracts is extremely telling.

Well said! I can attest that the Austin Rd overpass and the 2 lane vs 4 lane debate was never ever ‘insider information’ - I recall it being discussed in open city council meetings when I was on the council 2015-2018 as well as by CalTrans at PUBLIC comments meetings they held on the 99/120 rebuild project during that same time period. The Aquila ‘bombshell’ falls completely apart because there was no ‘insider info’. By the way, the use of an LLC is a common routine practice that land speculators and developers use along with a wide range of other businesses. There was no hiding of ownership. Also the city attorney and the SJCOG attorney do not represent any councilma…
